I have lately been tinkering around with OpenAI – now here’s a little treat for you: cal.schucan.com, a web app that lets you quickly add appointments, dates, events, and meetings from real life straight into your calendar. Just speak into your mic or point your camera at a poster, flyer, or even your laptop screen – anything with dates and times – and the app will turn it into calendar events you can add directly.
I like things simple and seamless. Here’s the quick rundown:
- Choose between microphone or camera.
- Record your plan with your mic, take a photo, or pick one from your gallery.
- Let the app create your events.
- Add them to your calendar.
- Done!
Cool features
You can feed the app any kind of events – concerts, meetings, private plans, doctor’s appointments – as either pictures or voice recordings.
Save the web app to your home screen on your phone to use it directly, just like a native app.
The AI handles both single and multiple events. Pointing it at a list of appointments will create separate calendar items. A 4-day festival poster? It’ll either generate a multi-day event or separate entries, depending on what it picks up.
It’s AI, so it’s not perfect. Results vary, but usually it does a decent job.
Once your events are generated, you can edit the details by clicking «Edit calendar» at the bottom of the page. Change anything you like, then hit «Add to calendar» again to get the updated version.
Your experience after clicking «Add to calendar» depends on your device:
- On iPhone Safari: super smooth – you can review all entries and choose to add all or just a few to any calendar you like.
- On a Windows laptop: it downloads a calendar file, which you can open in Outlook, Thunderbird, or whatever calendar app you use.
I’d love to hear how it works for you.
The web app is still in its early stages and will be improved upon any feedback I get from you and others.

Removing the seams between real life and your schedule
I’m constantly amazed – every month, week, and day – at how much simpler everyday life becomes thanks to the broad availability of large language models.
I’m learning fast, and feel incredibly lucky to be able to connect these new tools with my own work and life experience.
I’d love to hear how this app helps in your day-to-day life – and where else you think we could unlock the potential of LLMs. Comment below, or contact me here!
And finally – to be very honest: I don’t understand why this has not been a standard feature in any of our phones for over a year by now… 🤷♂️
